Why Didn't You Tell Me!

Am I the only one who didn't know that Beverly Jenkins had a new novel come out in January? Yep. "Bring on the Blessings" was released 27 January and no one told me.

"Bring on the Blessings" isn't the only novel Beverly has out just in time for Valentines (SMILE).

Reprints of her titles "Josephine" and "Belle" are also available. I missed them the first time around, so am glad to be given a second chance.

Don't forget the Beverly Jenkins Pajama Party. More information will be given in the coming months.

When Love Comes Around

Last month you were introduced to Author Victoria Wells and her second novel, "When Love Comes Around," which was released January 31, 2009.

I'll give you one guess what the next online bookclub selection is (SMILE). Yep, you guessed it. When Love Comes Around will is the selection for our Black Romance Bookclub, which is hosted at Shelfari.com.

We all have busy lives, so take two months to read the selected novel. Sooooo, we'll start discussing When Love Comes Around early April.

Come on and enjoy the fun. Let's talk ROMANCE.

At It Again

Dyanne has done it again! She's gone out and scored three fantastic interviews for the Romance Slam Jam Blog.

This month you have the opportunity to blog with Carmen Harris, an avid reader who has never attended the RSJ. With your help, maybe we can convince her to come and have a great time on the cruise with us.

Next up is aspiring author, Dorothy Binns. Let's see how her journey to publication is going.

Last, but not least, is Beverly Jenkins. Need I say more!

Head on over to the Romance Slam Jam BlogSpot and leave your comments.

As always, I'd like to thank Dyanne for conducting the monthly interviews. The Romance Slam Jam is about bringing readers, authors, and aspiring authors of Black Romance together, and she accomplishes this monthly on our blog.

If there is someone you'd like for Dyanne to interview (including yourself), send your suggestions to her at dyanne@romanceslamjam.org.

Romance Slam Jam Cruise

We are a little more than a year away from our fabulous Romance Slam Jam Crystal Anniversary Cruise departing from Miami, Florida, Saturday April 10th, 2010. We will be embarking on the five day Carnival Cruise to Ocho Rios, Jamaica and Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands on the “Destiny” Fun Ship.

I hope you are budgeting and planning so all that’s left to do is HAVE A GREAT TIME.

To help prepare for the cruise, here are a few reminders and suggestions:
1. Get a passport! It will be required by the time of the cruise.
2. Make sure your initial deposit of $50 per person (NOT per cabin) is paid to avoid having your reservation canceled.
3. Make frequent payments, $25 or $50 a month, to lessen the impact of the cost.
4. Start organizing roommates now, by contacting Deatri at deatri@romanceslamjam.com
5. Our theme is “Back to the Future,” so start pulling out those oldies but goodies books that you want to revisit.

See you on the cruise!

Angelique

Last Words

In 2010 we celebrate our Crystal Anniversary by taking a cruise! In 2011, the Slam Jam moves on to Baltimore.

Presently, we do not have a host city for the 2012 Romance Slam Jam. If your bookclub is interested in being the host book club, please contact me at deatri@romanceslamjam.org.

Trust me when I say it's never too early to start planning and you won't be alone. The Romance Slam Jam Organization is here to help.

That's it for now. If you have questions, I'm here deatri@romanceslamjam.org

Happy New Year

Peace
