While on a cruise to Jamaica, six couples discover the “Love Boat”
is a lot more than a television series from the 80s, and this time
the destination is hot, steamy romance.
Oh yeah, we're going on a cruise to Jamaica and love is in the air!
A.C. Arthur, AlTonya Washington, Barbara Keaton, Dyanne Davis,
Niobia Bryant and myself got together and wrote a little somethin'
somethin' to Celebrate 15 Years of Black Romance with our Romance
Slam Jam Family titled
Destination Romance!
I'll give you one guess where the anthology is set...Our anniversary
cruise, of course.
Each couple's story is a lot more than great read. Every penny
(minus printing cost and distribution) is being donated to the
South
Side Help Center (SSHC).
African American women are the fastest growing population being
diagnosed with HIV and/or AIDS. We can't save the world, but it
feels good to know our love of reading and writing may be able to
save one of our sisters, mothers, aunts, nieces, daughters, friends.
Again, the authors, publisher, type setter, editor and cover
designer are all forgoing any payment for Destination Romance. All
proceeds (minus printing and distribution) go directly to SSHC.
I'd like to take a second to thank
Red Rose Publishing and everyone who contributed. This does not
happen in today's society. Thanks for making the impossible happen.
Each couple's story will come out as an e-book in October. So those
of you who wanted to experiment with an e-book, this is a great time
to try. Then just in time for Christmas, the couples' stories will
be released as a print anthology.
Stay tuned for a special edition RSJ Newsletter with ordering
details.
Last month we discussed
Sweet Deception by Patricia Sargeant and, as always, had a great
time. Thanks to Patricia for joining us and Iris Bolling for
moderating.
Next up we are reading a book by a man. Hopefully we can get more
male participation in the chats.
We are discussing Always a Knight by Wayne Jordan starting 14 September.
So dig out those copies and join in on the fun. Wayne will be there!
Next up we'll discuss Body By Night by Zuri Day. The date for the
discussion hasn't been set yet..
We have discussions on various topics throughout, so please drop
on by any ol' time. Tell us what you are reading and what reading
events you've been going to.
Recommend a little somethin' somethin'.
Come on and join in on the fun. I know you want to talk about
some of these books we're reading with others who enjoyed them.
Our online book club is hosted at
http://www.shelfari.com. You'll need to sign up for a
membership, which is free, and join the
Black Romance Book Club.

Deatri here. Yeah, I know you are tired of hearing (reading) me, but
I had to hold off Dyanne for something really, really important.
Happy Birthday Dyanne!
Okay, you may now resume your regular programming. SMILE
This month, as always, Dyanne has some great interviews for you over
at our blog. First she brings interviews with authors Brenda Jackson
and Laura Guevara, then she wraps up with reader Rolanda Bradshaw.
If you'd like to be interviewed, contact Dyanne at
davisdyanne@aol.com. Don't
be scuuurrrd.
Now go on over and let folks know you've been there. Even if you
just say HI!
RSJ Blogspot
Until next month, enjoy!

I teach high school English. It’s amazing how much that I don’t
know. Don’t get me wrong, I am more than adequate to teach my
subject. As a matter of fact, I’ve been told that I excel. But when
it comes to some other areas, not so much. You see, there’s a lot of
important information kept from people, and if you don’t have the
curiosity or the wherewithal the establishment has a way of keeping
you in the dark. Thank God for MSNBC.
