During the month of November and December, nominations for
the 2010 Emma Awards for Black Romance novels published between January 2008 thru October
2009 will be accepted from people who are registered for the previous Romance Slam Jam Conference and/or the RSJ Cruise
(please note that lists of RSJ 2008 attendees and RSJ Cruise
attendees is available to the auditor).
Sorry, but e-books are not eligible. We know that some e-books come
out in print. Once they are released in print, the print version is
eligible and the publishing date is the date it was released in
print.
Please do not nominate titles that are not
Black romance or published during the correct time period.
2010 Emma Nomination Form
Last month--Halloween month--was a true treat. First Zuri Day
dropped by our Black Romance Online Bookclub and discussed her
release Body by Night with us. I know I say this every month, but
man do we have FUN. Don't take my word for it, drop on by and join
in. Zure is the BOMB.
Then 30 October Beverly Jenkins came by and we discussed her latest
novel Captured. Lawd have mercy. All I can say is Dominic, Dominic,
Dominic! The stuff romance men are made off.
Now you know I couldn't let Halloween go by without leaving the
group a little treat to end such a great month. Go on over to the
Black Romance Book Club and enjoy a treat.
Our next book discussion is Nov. 20: A Marriage of Convenience by
Jewel Amethyst. Hope to see you there.Come on and join in on the fun. I know you want to talk about
some of these books we're reading with others who enjoyed them. We
don't wait until book discussion day. We keep the party going all
month long.
Our online book club is hosted at
http://www.shelfari.com. You'll need to sign up for a
membership, which is free, and join the
Black Romance Book Club.

Happy Birthday
Pamela Starr!
Hello RSJ family,
Happy Birthday to all of the November babies and
a belated Happy Birthday to all the family born in October.
I’m going to wish all of you not just persona
health and happiness but wish that for your computers as well. Can
you believe first Dee, now me?
My hard drive crashed and let’s just say I’m still working my
way through emails that I should have taken care of…like last week.
LOL. If you’ve written me and haven’t heard back from me, give me
another week or so please.

The blog is stuck on stupid at the release time of this
newsletter and won't allow me (Deatri) to paste the interviews,
sooooo, I created the separate pages above. Feel free to email the
authors.
Once the blog is fixed, I'll post the interviews over there also.
Until next month, enjoy!

As
a Whisper, by AlTonya Washington, the first novella of the
Destination Romance Series was released last week!
The anthology was written in honor of the
Romance Slam Jam, and proceeds go the
South
Side Help Center.
Over the next few weeks, each novella will be released as an e-book. So those of you who have been wanting to
experiment with e-books, here is your chance to enjoy a few great
reads and do good in the hood. Then in time for Christmas, the
anthology comes out in print. Please help spread the word about this
fantastic anthology and the
South
Side Help Center (SSHC).
African American women are the fastest growing population being
diagnosed with HIV and/or AIDS. We can't save the world, but it
feels good to know our love of reading and writing may be able to
save one of our sisters, mothers, aunts, nieces, daughters, friends.
Again, the authors, publisher, type setter, editor and cover
designer are all forgoing any payment for Destination Romance. All
proceeds (minus printing and distribution) go directly to SSHC.
Stay tuned for a special edition RSJ Newsletter with ordering
details.
IMPORTANT: RSJ Cruise Cabin reservations:
I know some of you have not completed the $200 per person per room
for the cabin reservations. I have been told by the cruise line that
it is best to say you have fewer people in your room until you have
the $200 per person per cabin to ensure your reservation is not
cancelled.
The final payment for the cruise is only 3
short months away. Please make regular payments so you won't be hit
with sticker shock come February.
Hotel
information is now on the web. Don't forget the book signing to be on 9 April (at the hotel around 6
p.m.). Go ahead and reserve your hotel room now (at no cost to you). The hotel has
agreed to increase our block if needed while rooms last.
