Slam Jam Anniversary Cruise |
Whew howdy, all I can say was OUTSTANDING! We had a ball on the
cruise. It was nice seeing so many of the RSJ Family again after
such a long break.
Pictures, pictures, I need more pictures. Send the photos you want
added to our RSJ 2010 album to me at
deatri@romanceslamjam.org.
RSJ 2010 Photo Album
I'm sure you are all rested up from the cruise and
ready to gear up for RSJ 2011 where hosts A.C. Arthur and the Sweet
Soul Sisters Book Club will be welcoming us to Baltimore MD for our
Sweet Sixteen. Baltimore is known as the Charm City, and you are
sure to Be Charmed By Romance at the next Slam Jam.
RSJ
2011 Invitation
Be sure to spread the word.
The Black Romance Online Book Club is THE BOMB! In April we
discussed Jodie's Choice by little ol' me and it got pretty lively.
We have also scheduled our next three discussion and the authors
will be with us for each.
May 28 -- Francis Ray's It Had To Be You
June 25 -- Brenda Jackson's Spontaneous
July 30 -- Iris Bolling's Look Into My Heart [Please note this is
book 3 of a series]
Come on and join in on the fun. I know you want to talk about
some of these books we're reading with others who enjoyed them. We
don't wait until book discussion day. We keep the party going all
month long.
Our online book club is hosted at
http://www.shelfari.com. You'll need to sign up for a
membership, which is free, and join the
Black Romance Book Club.

Hello RSJ family,
As always, Dyanne is bringing it big with her interviews.
This month she had an interview with Lissa Woodson (aka
Naleighna Kai). This was Lissa's first year at
Slam Jam and she fit right in with the rest of us nuts SMILE.
You should have seen her up there doing her Karaoke thing.
Be sure to head on over to the
Blogspot and show your support.
RSJ Blogspot
Readers, Authors, Aspiring Authors, Editors..Heck, the entire RSJ
Family. If you are interested in being interviewed, please contact

Readers of African-American romance don't read romantic suspense,
paranormal romances or romance with science fiction elements.
Readers of African American romance don't read many books. Readers
of African American romance don't buy books.
Do you disagree with any or all of these statements? If so, please
help us spread the truth by taking this short survey:
Romance Slam Jam Reader Survey
A few people had a question on one of the survey questions. It ask
how many books you purchase a year. That is total books, not just
Romance.
Please spread the word about the survey. It takes all of us to speak
out in order to be heard.
I wanted to take a second to congratulate our
2010
Emma Award Winners and thank each of you for making the
nominations and judging. You are the Emmas. Great JOB! Be sure to
keep a reading list for possible nominations for the 2011 Emma
Awards.
I'm updating the
RSJ website as I obtain information for RSJ 2011. Please be
patient with the mess. In the mean time, spread the
RSJ
Invitation. We want the RSJ Family to continue growing and need
your assistance to do so.
Authors, if you are interested in attending the conference, contact
me at
deatri@romancelsamjam.org.
Destination Romance is still available.
African-American women are the fastest growing population being
diagnosed with HIV and/or AIDS. In this season of giving, six
award-winning authors have teamed with Red Rose Publishing to donate
all proceeds from the anthology Destination Romance to the South
Side Help Center, an HIV/AIDS prevention intervention and education
program for African-American women in Chicago, because, after all,
sometimes it is better to give than receive.
Please support this cause by purchasing Destination Romance
Destination Romance Anthology (Print Version)
Destination Romance Series (eBook Titles)
That's it for now. If you have questions, shoot
me an email.
As always, much joy, peace, and love
