I Hear You

One second it's May. I blink and BAM! It's June. In no time we will be seeing each other again and I can hardly wait.

Congratulations to those of you celebrating graduations and weddings and all that good stuff that comes along this time of year.

Last month I (Deatri) released the reading list for the RSJ Anniversary Cruise. We planned to have book discussions of the RSJ 2010 Author's picks on the cruise, but have received quite a bit of feedback asking we switch from having the book discussions to our usual reader sessions were you get to have a question answer session with the authors.

Most said they were planning on reading the books, but having so many fresh in your mind for a discussion would be difficult, soooo, I hear you. We always have a great time with the reader sessions and there is no reason this will be any different.

Black Romance Book Club

In case you haven't heard, we are Black romance junkies 24/7/365 and keep this bad puppy rolling. We have an online book club call the
Black Romance Book Club

Every other month we discuss a Black romance or Women's fiction novel. Come on over and join in on the fun.

Next we've decided to tackle two novels. Don't worry, the discussions won't start until June 26, so you have plenty of time to enjoy both novels.

The June novels for discussion are:

No One But You by Maureen Smith

Once You've Touched the Heart by Iris Bolling

Come on and join in on the fun!

Our online book club is hosted at http://www.shelfari.com. You'll need to sign up for a membership, which is free, and join the Black Romance Book Club.

At It Again

Hello RSJ Family, I hope you all enjoyed your memorial day and remembered to give thanks to the US Armed forces. I have my own Viet Nam vet at home with me, so I gave thanks to Bill.

Once again I’ve badgered busy writers into giving me interviews. As always I hope you enjoy these lighthearted interviews aimed at keeping our writers in the forefront of your mind and as a way for us to remain connected until we meet again.

I would really love to have some more readers to interview. After all Romance Slam Jam is about bringing readers and writers together. Drop me a line. I promise I’ll be gentle. I have an official RSJ email but since I forget to check it and forget the password (SMILE) just drop me a line at davisdyanne@aol.com and put RSJ in the subject line. Thanks. I’ll be looking forward to hearing from you. Now without further ado, I give you our own male pioneer in African American Romances, Wayne Jordan.

There is a special treat over there for you. Many of you are aspiring authors and one of our RSJ Aspiring Authors (Darlene Cole) has given an interview this month.

Now head on over to the RSJ Blogspot and show our contributors some love.

Until next month,

Dyanne Davis

Authors, Authors, and more Authors

Can you feeeeel the excitement in the air! Whew howdy, let's get this party started.

Two more authors will be joining us on the cruise: Gwynne Forster and LaToya S. Watkins. YEAAAAAA!

Be sure to check out the Authors and Guest page of the website to see the authors who plan to attend. The RSJ Anniversary Cruise Invite is also kept up to date. Please download the latest version when you distribute it, or send folks a direct link.

I know you are glad the letter was short and sweet this month. There are a few housekeeping items we must take care of.

If you plan to attend the RSJ Anniversary Cruise.

1. Reserve your cabin on the cruise space is limited. If you need a cabin mate, contact me at deatri@romanceslamjam.org. We presently have one person who is looking for a cabin mate.

2. Register for the RSJ Conference

Registration for the RSJ Crystal Anniversary Conference to be held on the cruise is open. The fee is $50. RSJ Registration.

3. Get your Passport

Americans are required to have a passport to enter into the United States. Check out http://travel.state.gov/ for information on requirements and locations to obtain a passport.

Side note: For those of you who have never been on a cruise, yes it is true, your meals are included in the price of the cruise. Now don't you all laugh. This was a legitimate question, and I was wondering the same thing when we went on our first cruise. Don't be afraid to ask questions folks. I'm here for you.

Important dates, prices, passport information, attending authors and all that good stuff for the RSJ 15 Year Anniversary Cruise can be found at:
RSJ Crystal Anniversary Cruise!

That's it for now. If you have questions, I'm here deatri@romanceslamjam.org

As always, much joy, peace, and love
