When Love Comes Around

Hello All!

I had the pleasure of attending my first Slam Jam last year. As a new author on the scene it was a wonderful experience meeting so many supportive readers and lovers of romance. As an avid reader of African American romance I was absolutely star struck when I met some of my favorite authors!

I had such a fantastic time going to the workshops and participating on an author’s panel with A.C. Arthur and Farrah Rochon. However, what touched me the most was the atmosphere of kindred spirits. I made some wonderful friends I’ve kept in touch with over the past year.

My experience not only as an author, but as a reader, was so moving I’ve made a commitment to attend the conference yearly. I cannot wait until 2010! Hope to see you there!

Click here to check out my book trailer for my upcoming release on January 31, 2009 of my sophomore novel, When Love Comes Around.

Keep An Ear Out

Keep an ear out. As I’ve said, a few of the RSJ Family members have been in touch with me and are planning mini RSJ activities in their various regions. You didn’t hear it here, but Chicago and Shreveport may be having a little something, something. If you are planning a romance activity to help hold you over until our Anniversary Cruise in 2010, let me know and I’ll be glad to help you spread the word!

Happy New Year!!!

To welcome the beginning of 2009, I (Dyanne) decided this month to deviate from what has become our usual format of RSJ BlogSpot interviews. I feel compelled to speak of things that have impacted my life personally and things that have impacted the lives of every American...continue reading and giving your reflections: Romance Slam Jam BlogSpot

Deatri here, if there is someone you'd like for Dyanne to interview, send your suggestions to her at dyanne@romanceslamjam.org.

Romance Slam Jam Cruise

Reservations for the RSJ 15 Year Anniversary Cruise in April 2010 are on! Most people find out about the Romance Slam Jam through word of mouth, so please spread the word. Here's the flyer: RSJ Crystal Anniversary Cruise!

I (Deatri) received an email from one of the RSJ Family members wanting to know if we could start an online diet club for the cruise. I guess folks want to turn some serious heads LOL. I ain’t mad. If you’ve got it, flaunt it!

Anywhooo, we have an alarming rate of obesity, diabetes and plain old bad health habits in our community and need to think beyond the cruise. I am willing to set up an online community, but I have too much on my plate to run it effectively by myself. I’m hoping the person who made the request (hint, hint, hint) along with a few others will help maintain the site. It’ll only take a few minutes a week.

Please contact me at deatri@romanceslamjam.org if you are interested in helping or joining the community. The site will be dedicated to supporting each other in leading healthy lives.

Don't forget that after you've reserved your spot on the cruise, you can start mailing in your payments instead of having to call the cruise line:

Mail payments to:
Carnival Cruise Line
MSRV 406N
P.O. Box 526170
Miami FL 33152

Make checks out to: Carnival Cruise Line
In memo place the RSJ Group Number and your cabin confirmation number
Grp# 62BF31 Conf#

Passports will be required for this cruise.

If you need help arranging a roommate, contact deatri@romanceslamjam.org.
