So Much To Say, So Little Room

Emma Finalists
Congratulations to the Emma Finalists. This is your competition. The judges started receiving the books the last week of January and are busy reading. Winners will be announced at the Emma Awards ceremony on the RSJ Anniversary Cruise.

Don’t Forget
Please, please, please do not miss the final payment date for the cruise (9 February). Carnival has said they will not be as lax with this date as they were with the deposit.

Also, remember if you have changed your mind about attending the cruise, be sure to call Carnival for your refund on or before February 8, 2010 (I personally wouldn’t wait until the last day).

Mark Your Calendars
The RSJ Anniversary Book Signing is April 9, 2010 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Wyndham Miami. This is open to the public, so please spread the word. We’ll be having a book vendor there, but we encourage you to bring those titles you’ve collected over the years to have the attending authors sign.

Arrive A Day Or Two Early
I have to arrive in Miami on the 8th or I won’t make it in time for the signing, and I thought others may be in this same situation or may want to arrive in Miami early to enjoy the city. The discount rate starts April 7th so feel free to come early. Just make sure when you reserve your room to use our group name for the discount.

Don't Miss The Bus

I'm arranging a bus to take us from the hotel to the dock on the morning of the April 10.  The cost is $10 per person (this includes a top for the driver).

If you want to ride the bus, then send the $10 per person (cashier's check or money order) made out to Romance Slam Jam to:

Romance Slam Jam
c/o Deatri King-Bey
P.O. Box 822
Tolleson, AZ 85353

If you wish to pay using PayPal, then the cost is $11 and send payment to deatri@romanceslamjam.org

Payment for the bus is due by Feb. 9, 2010 (This date will most likely be extended. I speak with my contact on Feb 2nd. Stay tuned.)

Black Romance Online Book Club

The Black Romance Online Book Club is THE BOMB! During January we talked about different titles we've been reading. We also chatted with Rochelle Alers, keynote speaker for RSJ 2010 and an all around great person and author (as if you didn't know SMILE) about the first two titles of the Eaton series (If you haven’t started reading this series, what are you waiting for SMILE).

Head on over to your Black Romance Book Club and talk some books with us. The last Friday in February, Keith Walker will be with us to discuss his title Fixin’ Tyrone. But don’t wait until February 26th, come on out and have some fun.

Come on and join in on the fun. I know you want to talk about some of these books we're reading with others who enjoyed them. We don't wait until book discussion day. We keep the party going all month long.

Our online book club is hosted at http://www.shelfari.com. You'll need to sign up for a membership, which is free, and join the Black Romance Book Club.

Be sure to head on over to the Blogspot and show your support.

RSJ Blogspot

Readers, Authors, Aspiring Authors, Editors..Heck, the entire RSJ Family. If you are interested in being interviewed, please contact Dyanne Davis (davisdyanne@aol.com)

Until next month, enjoy!

$3 Really Adds Up!

Each of the electronic novellas in the Destination Romance Series sales for $2.99 with proceeds going to the South Side Help Center, an HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention program that focuses on African American women. Thus far you have helped raise a little over $1000! This doesn’t even count the print anthology. Thank you so much for supporting this wonderful cause. And guess what? Pretty soon the Anthology will be available at your local book store. Yep. You can tell folks to head on over to their bookstore and order it if it isn’t on their bookshelf.

Below is a repeat from last month. Please spread the word:

Each year we try to have a raffle to raise money for a non-profit organization. This year we did things a little different. Instead of taking a chance at winning a raffle prize, everyone is a winner when they purchase any title from the Destination Romance Series. All proceeds go to the South Side Help Center, an HIV/AIDS prevention intervention and education program for African American women in Chicago. African American women are the fastest growing population being diagnosed with HIV and/or AIDS.

We still need your support in raising funds for the charity. The individual titles are available in eBook form for only $2.99. With six authors, there is something for everyone. If you haven’t tried an eBook before, here’s a chance.

A print version of the anthology (all six titles are included) is available at Amazon.com and a bookstore near you (shortly). Please help spread the word about this wonderful cause. Six styles, six outstanding authors, six fantastic stories, one fantastic cause! Thank you for your support.
