General Overview

Welcome Reception: Come meet and greet newcomers, authors, book lovers and friends. This reception is geared towards active participation and fun! After the end of the “Welcome Reception,” you should have met new friends and re-acquainted yourself with old ones. It will be the start of a fun-filled, busy and enjoyable conference.

Free time in New Orleans: Explore the historic French Quarter, take a ride on the famous Canal Street Streetcar Line, win big at Harrah’s Casino. Romance Slam Jam attendees will have several hours to explore one of the world’s most fascinating cities.

Reader Sessions:  Come meet your favorite authors of Black romance and women’s fiction and ask those burning questions.

Panel Discussions and Workshops: Talk about the hottest topics in the literary field and learn the ins and outs to the publishing industry. For aspiring authors, authors and readers.

Intimate Author Sessions: Limited to 10 readers per session, enjoy an hour of chatting and horderves, with your favorite authors. (extra fee applies)

Keynote: Angie Daniels has released over two dozen novels. She has won numerous awards including a Romantic Times Reviewers’ Choice Award for When it Rains, and an Emma Award for Favorite Erotic Romance, for A Delight Before Christmas. She began her road to publication in 2001 when she was offered a four-book deal with Genesis Press. In 2002 she signed with BET/Arabesque which was purchased by Harlequin/Kimani Romance in 2005. Angie joined Kensington Publishing in 2003. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Columbia College.

Author Meet & Greet:  Here’s the time to see all authors in one place. We encourage you to bring titles you’ve collected over the years and your electronic reader cover to the event and have them signed by the attending authors.

Emma Awards: Named after the co-founder of the Romance Slam Jam, the Emma Awards is the premier awards event for readers and authors of Black romance. Formal attire is not required, but this is the one event we ask you to dress up.

Pass The Torch: We bring another Romance Slam Jam to an end, but we will see each other again. The RSJ torch will be passed to our next host city.
