Life has been crazy, but it’s all good! I hope September finds you all well. I’ve been hearing so much excitement about the upcoming Slam Jam! Each year the conference does the impossible—gets better! I can hardly wait to see you all there.
The 2014 RSJ Conference is dedicated to the memory of Francis Ray. If you have photos of Francis we can use, please send them to rsjdeatri @ yahoo.com (remove spaces). Thank you to those who have already sent pictures.
The RSJ Aspiring Author Contest is BACK. Harlequin has already signed on. So get those manuscripts ready. More to come…
The next few sections are basically the same from last month, but needs to be repeated. Whatever you do, don’t miss the Host Check In!
Romance Slam Jam (RSJ) 2014 Hotel
I’ve received numerous emails saying our block for the RSJ Hotel is completely booked. Yes, we know. Sorry, but we’ve been unable to acquire additional rooms for the block. There is a hotel within walking distance and others in the area that also have pretty good rates. View the Hotel and Transportation page for additional information on hotels in the area.
Registration is open! Be sure to take advantage of early registration discount! Many of our teens are aspiring authors and avid readers. To support a new generation of romance readers and authors, this year we start RSJ Teens. Workshops and reader sessions are open to teens 13-17 years old at a greatly reduced price. Spread the word.
Emma Awards: Before you know it, it will be time to make Emma Nominations. If you have attended any Slam Jam since 2008 and/or will be attending the 2014 Slam Jam, you can nominate Black romance novels, and I’ll be asking for judges. View the Emmas page for full details.
Black Romance and Women’s Fiction Book Club
Be sure to drop by the book club where we have a good time. Last month we discussed Trouble Don’t Last Always by Francis Ray. Currently, we’re voting on the October group read, which will be a paranormal romance.
Visit the Black Romance and Women’s Fiction Book Club where we talk Black romance and women’s fiction 24/7/365.
That’s All, Folks!
I’m always looking for guest post and romance and women’s fiction title announcements, so if you have a contribution you’d like to make to the eNews, use the contact page to let me know.
The main way we keep the price of the Romance Slam Jam low is we don’t pay for advertising. Instead, we rely on word of mouth. Please spread the word about this event, regularly. The invitation is updated often and will always be located in the right hand side of the website. We’d appreciate it if you share. The more in attendance, the more fun!
Up next we have the Host Check In from 2014 Host Author Shelia Goss!
Much Joy, Peace, and Love
